And places, and things.
Meet one of my photography friends. I have quite a few friends who own cool cameras. And love to look, point, and shoot. And the more pictures they take, the more amazing the photos they produce. So without distracting your eyes any further with words. Take a look and enjoy this Photo Blog subtitled:
“Signs of Spring”
by a photographer who loves what he does.
Meet Alvim Gimarino. He began his photo journey with a little Kodak film camera his dad shared with him, but in high school received a Canon Rebel XS after seeing an Andre Agazzi commercial where one of his favorite athletes used the same camera.
“I have always liked Architecture and since I was young I would
design houses and buildings using lego pieces. I love to see my designs in different angles and I guess I would always look at actual structures the same way. The best way I preserve that angle is by taking a picture of it with my film camera.”
The sheer cost of the hobby discouraged Alvim during his college days, but a few years later, he began anew taking pictures during his various travels abroad.
“I fell in love with landscapes and just how people interact in them (scale of people in the shot and composition of the shot). My aunt paid for my film photography and that’s why I continued on.”
Yeah for family support and generous Aunts!
A few years after that, while tutoring a woman in computers, she introduced Alvim to another lady who gave him a brand new Canon Digital camera! How cool is that?!? Soon afterward, he clicked to his heart’s content—day in and day out. What started as a hobby became a passion when blogs and websites began to feature his pictures, and several small companies and friends have purchased his photos.
A very talented hobbiest if you ask me.
NOTE: The shots above were taken at the New York Botanical Gardens.
For a more complete library of Alvim’s photography, check out his FLICKr webpage at Alvim Gimarino’s Photostream where he posts a lot of his astounding photos of his wanderings and discoveries of the wonders of New York City. I wouldn’t be surprised if NYC tourism experiences a sudden boost after taking a peek at this great city through the lens of my friend Alvim.
So it’s a done deal? Meet you in Central Park? Say…this weekend? And bring your camera. Cuz a picture is worth…
