That Moment When…

Wow! It’s Friday. Supposed to be Fiction Friday, but this Waterfall Mama is on Vaca-mode and completely forgot to write something fictional. So how ’bout a compromise? Something sort of fictitious? And perhaps even funny, at times. Enjoy. And make sure to share your “moments” as well. Because I WANT to know!

I’m a moment by moment type of gal, if you couldn’t tell by now. When I’m having a moment, I just need anyone and everyone around me to wait it out. Because, well, it will only take a moment. Hubby has been frustrated with me lately, because he says when I’m having a moment, the world around me has to deal with the aftershocks of my moment, whether for good or for bad. Often, it’s my external processing during a rush-rush moment that gets me in the most trouble. For example, when the morning demands hurry so snacks are packed, lunches are made and breakfast mostly down their throats before we fly out the door to catch the bus, this is not the right time to have a family discussion about our weekend plans. Just sayin. So, in that stressful moment, I have a moment. And like a hurricane that whirls through the kitchen, I cannot relax when the microwave clock just flipped to one minute closer to the school bus’s arrival at the bottom of the street. I just can’t.So, I have a lot of moments. And then I have to calm down and reassure each child that they’ll have great days at school, their mother is only partly insane, and spit used to wipe away milk mustaches is not technically unclean if it comes from your mom. As I walked back up the hill a couple of weeks ago, I thought of all the moments I’ve had before 9:00AM, so I thought I’d write them down in hopes that if I learn to get them out on “paper,” perhaps I’ll spill less. Verbally, that is.

#ThatMomentWhen you realize you have enough #ThatMomentWhens to warrant a blog.

#ThatMomentWhen you wish you were blonde so your greys would look more like highlights.

#ThatMomentWhen you were about to work out. Just passed.

#ThatMomentWhen you drink your first cup of coffee and think, #ThereIsAGod!

#ThatMomentWhen you kiss your hubby Good Morning, twice. #ForNoReason.

#ThatMomentWhen you ask someone, “This November?” and it’s already December. Followed by #ThatMomentWhen you realize this is how you know you don’t have #ARealJob. Followed immediately by, #WeWillMakeGreatFriends because she didn’t notice either! 😉

#ThatMomentWhen you run into the person whose FB status you just commented on. Do you say it again? Ask if they read it? or #LeaveItAlone. #Awkward.

#ThatMomentWhen you go to make dinner and discover leftovers. Love that moment!

#ThatMomentWhen you think about shaving your legs. For two seconds. And then pull on leggings. Solved.

#ThatMomentWhen you catch someone watching you scratch your head and then slide your hand casually into your lap. Just an itch. Nothing more. Surely.

#ThatMomentWhen you bump noses because you just hugged a lefty. #GottaLoveLeftys
#ThatMomentWhen you get a text telling you he found your phone. Then whose phone am I holding?#ThatMomentWhen you ask Siri something and she tells you to go to h…it Google.

#ThatMomentWhen you hit “Like” on a friend’s FB Status and then freak out. What if they think I mean something else? What if they think I’m laughing at their misery? Or even worse, does this mean if I don’t Like the next thing they post, I’ll hurt their feelings? #OverThinkingFaceBook

#ThatMomentWhen you order a grande skinny latte with a dab of whip and the guy looks at you funny. Sorry Miss. We just have small, medium or large. Regular or decaf? Oops. #NotStarbucks.

#ThatMomentWhen you realize #NewYearsDay is less than three days away and you have yet to come up with your #resolutions. I mean, do you. Have to, that is? Maybe you can just dance your way into the moment and think up the list in time for February 1st. Or what if you implement a change without making a huge announcement and declare it FEB1st when it has already become a part of you. Now that’s what I’m talkin’bout!

#ThatMomentWhen you ask your readers to share their own #ThatMomentWhens. 🙂 That would be…uh…now! 🙂
