Killer InSTINKt

Helpful Article on Prevention

I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind: murder.

  • Suspect Clues:
  • Wakes up earlier than you
  • Smiles when approaching, but don’t let him fool you
  • A one drink kinda guy
  • Relentless, as in keeps attacking even in the case of a lost limb
  • Has friends as faithful as gang members…or maybe even the mafia
  • Moves slower when full
  • Remorseless—I’m sure of it  Continue reading

My Love Language… “A Mother’s Day Post”

Hannah wrote this poem for me and I thought I’d share it with all the Moms in the world for Mother’s Day! Can’t imagine my life without the grace my kids give me…daily…sometime in hefty doses!! Love you so much Princess Numero Uno! Whose name means Grace and who has the writing bug buzzing inside her! Who knows? Maybe she’ll have her own Blog before the year is over!  Continue reading

For Freeeeeeeeeeeeeee… An Easter-ish Story

“Where did you get that?” Mom would ask when we came home from school with something we didn’t take from home that morning.
“The teacher gave it to us. It was free!”
“Beta, there’s nothing free in this world.”
I heard this my whole life. For the most part, I have to agree. People rarely give you something entirely for free. But…. Continue reading

My Friend Who Likes To Shoot People…

And places, and things.

Meet one of my photography friends. I have quite a few friends who own cool cameras. And love to look, point, and shoot. And the more pictures they take, the more amazing the photos they produce.  So without distracting your eyes any further with words. Take a look and enjoy this Photo Blog subtitled:

“Signs of Spring”

by a photographer who loves what he does.

Meet Alvim Gimarino. He began his photo journey with a little Kodak film camera his dad shared with him, but in high school received a Canon Rebel XS after seeing an Andre Agazzi commercial where one of his favorite athletes used the same camera.

Cheaper by the Super-Dealio

Let’s define the word “cheap,” shall we? I mean, can’t a person just be financially responsible and not be considered cheap? Can’t a person just make good use of all his/her resources, be happy to live with a little less than the “best name brand” and just live a simpler life without being labeled cheap? Why is it that if you like to find a good deal, and when you’ve found a great deal, people automatically label you as “cheap.” I think they’re just jealous they didn’t get their hands on that great deal first.

For those of you who like to save, you’ll be able to relate to this. For those of you who like to spend, you’ll have some standards to go by before you call someone “cheap.”

Home Remedies That You Actually Find at Home

I’ll admit from the get-go—I’m no Martha Stewart, but I do have a home remedy or two in my back pocket that has saved me in a pinch. I learned most of these from my sister-in-law and her mom who have a long list of tried and tested homemade solutions for just about anything. I racked my brain for my top ten, then realized I could only think of five. That just goes to prove that I won’t be writing an Encyclopedic volume on this topic, but I think I can manage one little blog post. So here goes: Continue reading

Seek and Seek

I have to be honest. I am not the world’s best listener. In fact, I’m kind of a terrible listener. I’m often told that I have the gift of gab, but I’m not so sure I’d call it a “gift” unless you’re the quiet type who hates silence. I can fill just about any moment of silence, taking only brief breaks to inhale a breath to keep from passing out. Yes, I can shoot the breeze right out of you if you give me the chance. Sometimes when I’ve spent too many hours staring at a computer screen, the moment the doorbell rings, the phone buzzes or an unexpected visitor pops in, my mouth explodes with a force comparable to Mt. St. Helen. Continue reading

To Turkey or Not to Turkey…

Asked a doctor friend of mine what his two cents of advice would be to all of us so we don’t come out of this holiday season looking like the bird we just baked.
He said, “I tell my patients to remember that these occasions are called ‘holidays,’ not ‘holi-weeks’ or ‘holi-months.’ Pass another cookie.”  Continue reading
